The beast has bested me
as he stalks the shadows
seeking to steal my slumber
a barter for my boredom
I could offer conciliation
but dealing would detract
from debts I owe and deeds undone
and cause me consternation
I redouble my resolve
and assert my assurance
assuage with assiduity
refine and redress my redoubt.
(Poem 4 of 30)
